I've volunteered to serve as the School Representative for my school. What now?

If this is a new role for you (within the past two years), or you are the only rep at your school, and would like to learn more about your role and expectations, please join us for lunch, and then stay to learn a little more about……

• What it means to be a CSR
• What the role of the CSR is in schools
• A walk through of the most important highlights of the new CSR Toolkit (your school should have a binder, or a thumb drive with it loaded on it….PLEASE BRING THIS WITH YOU)
• A brief explanation of the difference between provincial ATA and our Local, as well as the structure and role of each
• A short ‘state-of-the-union’ in terms of relevant goings on in government
• An update from provincial regarding the new campaign they are rolling out for the fall and the role CSRs will play
• Q&A time

Knowing that the beginning of the year is super busy, combined with the fact that all of you have busy lives outside of school, we decided to hold it on an afternoon to try to honour your time and not add yet another meeting at the end of the day for you.

We recognize that there might be schools with more than one CSR rep. In cases such as these, depending on the level of response, we would like you to sign up a primary person, and then anyone else that is a rep and is interested in coming as secondary.

We want to make sure that we are able to accommodate at least one person from every school before we accept others from the same school.

When you approach your Principal, please let them know a few of things:

1. That your release will be paid for by the Local.
2. That this is the only pull-out time we will be asking for this year for you.
3. That you will book your supply teacher ASAP to ensure the coverage is there. (In the supply system please select, “ATA Local , cost to ATA (030)”
4. That we feel this is important work for the year ahead.
